Changes to come...

Hello Friends! I have been playing around with a new logo and name for my jewelry business. I think I have finally created something that I really like, I hope you do too. I am sad to not be using White Rock Designs, as this name reminds me of a place very dear to my heart. But this new logo is something I have been working on and kept going back to, must have been for a reason. Send me your opinions. :)

Other news... I have started a shop on Etsy.com for those of you who might want to check it out and order anything. I am very new to the whole selling online thing, so give me some time and I will have more stuff in the shop a.s.a.p.

A BIG THANKS...

to everyone who came out for my first earring party!! I hope you enjoyed the food and margaritas and most of all the earrings. The raffle went very well and we were able to raise $50 for Cayden and his family, thanks to everyone who donated. Lesley and Shannon won the raffle for a pair of earrings. I am already starting to plan another party for sometime in September, I will keep you all updated.

A charity event...
My aunt Carla is raising money for a small boy in our community with muscular dystrophy (details below). We have decided to hold a raffle at the earring party to try and help her out. We will be selling raffle tickets (1 for $3 or 2 for $5) to win a pair of earrings. I will also be donating .50 cents for every pair of earrings that is purchased at the party.

I will be able to accept cash and check for both earrings and raffle tickets.

Caden Lindquist is almost 10 years old. He is the oldest of three children and lives with his family in West Valley City.

Caden was stricken with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) when he was 6 years old. DMD is a disorder that involves rapidly- worsening muscle weakness. It becomes apparent when an affected child begins to walk. Progressive weakness and muscle wasting (a decrease in muscle strength and size) caused by degenerating muscle fibers, begins in the upper legs and pelvis but can also affect other areas if the body.

Other symptoms of DMD are difficulty with motor skills (running, hopping, jumping), difficulty when rising from a sitting or lying position or when climbing stairs, changes to overall posture (scoliosis), impaired breathing, lung weakness, and cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease causing weakness that interferes with pumping ability). Currently Caden requires special equipment such as night splints and he is confined to a manual wheelchair 75% of the time. Most children with this disease don’t require a wheelchair until the age of 10 to 12. The average life expectancy for patient afflicted with DMD varies. There is no known cure for DMD.

Of all the things that Caden has gone through, all that he will continue to go through, and all that the family needs in order to care for him at home, all Caden wants is to spend time with his family. We hope to provide him and his family with a cruise trip so that they can escape and spend time with each other. Other proceeds will go to provide Caden with an electric wheelchair and also pay for medical costs.

Some more creations...

Here are some more designs I have been working on, just in time for the party. It was suggested to me that I add detail about what the earrings are made of, which I have definitely thought about and I promise I will soon. All of the wire I use is colored copper wire. I know some people are allergic to certain metals, so if you need sterling silver or some other kind of wire just let me know and I can certainly get some. If you are coming to the party this Friday and have a special request please do not hesitate to let me know. I will have some closing hooks at the party that I can put on to any pair if needed. Some of these are pictured without any hooks yet. Enjoy!

I've been busy...

Trying to get a good size inventory with lots of variety for the party. These pictures aren't the greatest since I took them in the evening and don't have a decent light set up but they are okay. I had a request to make closing hooks so I am working on that also. I made some but I am not sure the wire I have will work very well. Either way I will have some at the party, even if they are not handmade, and I can put them on any pair. I will also include rubber backs on all of the earrings. Enjoy!
